Fuck evangelical thinking

 

                I have so much on my mind I don’t know where to start. I have family that thinks that I’m anti-Christian, I have family that thinks that I’m pro-science. Though they may not think about it that way. I’m quick to throw out a sarcastic remark, to me it shows that I am aware of the past and the struggles that have shaped the present. To others it may come off as a denigrating remark.

                Honestly I’m not against Christianity, I’ve just been too jaded in my life to think that it’s the way forward. I am who I am because of my upbringing, and the teachings I’ve learned from church. That is why I’ve voted Democratic my whole life. I was taught that I should love my neighbor, that every life was worth saving. I was taught that every live was worth saving. All actions have a cause and effect. It may not be clear what the cause or effect is but it is there.

To continue further, my family might think that I’m against them because I’m critical of Christianity. This is just not true. I don’t agree with their outlook, but I don’t think that they’re wrong. I’m not saying that they haven’t had some feeling that has set them on their path, I just can’t relate and prefer evidence. I’m happy to be proven wrong, I can’t possibly know the truth about the afterlife.
                I’m quick to point out flaws and lack of consistency with the hard truths about how Christianity began, I piss off people that I care about. Even though I respect their points of view and I wish them the best. I know that they are trying to do the best they can.

I now turn my attention to the anti-science people. Apparently because of my logical findings, protecting you from me is a bad thing. Wearing a facemask that goes a long way from preventing me from spreading whatever virus I may harbor is a political issue. I suppose I can spread chicken pox, tuberculosis, meningitis. Given the sentiment towards COVID-19, there is nothing stopping me from spreading these diseases. There is no reason for me or my children to get vaccinated. Why should I care that these diseases were essentially eliminated if I can make it a political issue.
