So I’m
hearing that people are keeping their kids home from school because they think
that masks are detrimental to their kids health. However, people are keeping
kids home because they feel that a deadly disease is detrimental to their kids
health.
Who is
right? Who is actually looking out for the best interests of their kids?
I’m
also learning that the answers are related to your political allegiance. One
side will affirmatively say that masks are the problem. The other side will say
that death is the problem. Its really hard to say which side has the better
argument. On the one hand potential but rare breathing problems is certainly an
issue. On the other, death means, that the children are presented in front of
Jesus. Clearly very hard to tell which side might be more realistic during this
pandemic.
I’m not worried though, I have it
on good authority that listening to a serial sexual harasser who has never
thought of another human being other than himself, is someone worth listening
to. He has assured me that this disease that has killed more Americans than AIDS
in the last 40 years is nothing to worry about.
if
I’m fine, and the governors of the states with the most Covid cases in the US
tell me that I’m safe, I believe it. I’m not dumb enough to believe scientists.
Who do you think I am? An idiot? I would never trust someone who has dedicated
their lives to preventing spreadable diseases, or those who have dedicated
their lives to a pursuit of knowledge. Who do you think I am? I’m no idiot. I’d
prefer to follow those who have no affiliation with truth, and present things
on a news network I was taught to trust.
I don’t care that that news network
was founded by an Australian or that he still has complete control over its
content because I’m an American, and therefore the information put before me is
correct and nothing can challenge my world view. It doesn’t matter to me that
the people who tell me my “truth” wearing facemasks inside my work place. It
doesn’t matter to me that the people that tell me vaccines are evil are requiring
them in order to enter the building.
No. the only thing that matters is
that talking heads are telling me that there are people out there who insist
that I care about someone other than myself. And that is very troubling. I’ve
never cared about anyone else in my life. I was raised Christian, I was taught
things like loving my neighbor was wrong. I’m not supposed to give something
that might be excess to someone who needs it. I’m supposed to think that that I’m
superior to everyone else because I’ve found the answer to everything (42).
I’m very upset, What am I supposed
to do? Am I supposed to tell my child to protect those around them? That can’t
be right. Why should anyone be elevated above my kids?
Am I supposed to keep them home and
teach them that there are people out there who put other people’s lives above
their own? That can’t be right, its very clear that the bible doesn’t allow for
compassion.
Am I supposed to explain to my
children that there is a very serious disease going around that can be passed
through the air, and that wearing a mask and keeping distance is the best
course of action to keep both them and me safe? Should I also mention that
playdates are incredibly complicated even if I trust the other parents explicitly?
Can I possibly mention that we aren’t going to go to a restaurant because you
can’t sit still and will walk around?
I’m incredibly sarcastic, and also a
pessimist. Is there anyone who is going to tell me that I’m wrong? Not wearing
masks, not getting vaccinated is going to prevent the biggest health crisis of
our lives?
I’m just confused about how
protecting lives has become political. What have I missed? I get that masks
might not work as well as we think, but we still trust surgeons to wear them.
Meaning that they work, but there is something about the deadliest disease to
ever inflict humanity that we don’t agree with.
Oh shit, I forgot, the Australian
that I mentioned earlier. He might have something to do with our perceptions. I
know that’s hard to believe, how could an Aussie ever play a factor in the fact
that we live FOX News…not possible.
On the off chance that the
scientific community actually wants to keep people alive, do you think that
maybe they want to keep you alive? I don’t know, I’m very confused about the
data that people have dedicated their lives towards maintaining life. I can
only assume they want people to die. I mean its counter to their lives goal
afterall.
